NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION

Nominees for Officer positions should provide a short statement (200 words) which may be circulated with the postal ballot papers or posted on the LSA website. The statement must be included with the returned nomination AND be copied by e-mail to mcfee-usa@earthlink.net

The statement could include details of professional involvement and research interests in leisure studies and related areas. The statement must be included with the returned nomination.

The inclusion of a statement by Nominees for Ordinary Member positions is optional.

BALLOT --- After close of nominations a ballot will be circulated by e-mail link to the website page. Voters please print and return by post to LSA Secretary, c/o M. McFee. DEADLINE for receipt of ballots is Friday 3 July, 2009.

RESULTS -- will be announced at the LSA 2007AGM to be held at the annual Conference, Eastbourne. "Winners" are decided by a simple majority of the votes received by postal ballot.

If the postal balloting has not resulted in all posts being filled, members of the Association will nominate and elect Officers and/or Ordinary Members of the Executive at the AGM.

No person may be proposed at the AGM for a post that has already been filled through the postal ballot process.

LSA Members may attend the AGM whether or not they are attending the conference.

ELIGIBILITY and RULES

All LSA Members are eligible to stand for election as Officers or Ordinary Members of the Executive. Previous Committee Members (Officer or Ordinary) who have served a maximum term may seek re-election after standing down for at least one year.

Officers may serve for a period of three years in that capacity and may be elected annually for a further period of up to three years provided they do not exceed a total of seven consecutive years as a member of the Executive.

Ordinary Members of the Executive may serve for two years and may be re-elected for further terms of one year provided they do not exceed a total of four consecutive years as an Ordinary Member of the Executive.

Nominations must be supported by two current members of the Association with the consent of the nominee.
