Festivals and Events: Beyond Economic Impacts
July 6-8, 2005, Napier University, Edinburgh

ALL JOURNEYS - REMEMBER TO ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME
BECAUSE OF THE SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES IN EDINBURGH IN EARLY JULY

Dear Delegate,

FIRST CONFERENCE DAY JULY 6

Please plan to arrive at the campus by noon - early enough to register, pick up your delegate materials and then enjoy a light lunch before the opening session which will begin at 1pm.

As you will probably be aware, various major events are happening in Edinburgh over the same period as the LSA 2005 Conference. "G8" (economic summit) events are taking place nearby, and rallies and a "Live 8" concert are also expected to take place in the city. As a result, traffic in the city centre and surrounding areas is expected to be even heavier than usual.

Delegates must take note - you need to allow plenty of time to get into the city from the Airport/Train station and especially from your accommodation to the Craiglockhart campus on the mornings of Thursday 8th and Friday 9th. You should allow at least 30-40 minutes for travel between sites by public transportation.

BREAKFAST at Premier Travel Inn - full breakfast is £6.95 and "continental" is £4.95. (No need to pre-book.) Delegates may also find informal breakfast at Craiglockhart Campus.

RECEPTION DESK (regular working hours) at Craiglockhart Campus is (0131) 455 4616 (from the UK).

MESSAGES can be left for delegates staying at Premier Travel Inn hotel at (0870) 238 3319 (from the UK).

MYRENE McFEE (Administrator) will not be able to respond to e-mails from July 5 to July 13.

I will be present at Craiglockhart Campus on the 6th of July (only) and I look forward to meeting all of you who arrive for LSA 2005 on that day.
